Being a writer is not an easy job, especially since you basically have to make stuff up in order to fill page after page. The ultimate goal is to come up with intriguing stories that make people demand more content from you, which in turn allows you to sell more books and live a comfortable life. Obviously, this is easier said than done, which is why not everyone can make it as a writer.

The Deadline is an interactive story in which you play the role of a young man as he attempts to make a name for himself by writing a novel. The game is not as straightforward as you might think, however, especially since the characters from the book come alive and the writer himself must deal with them. There’s also the pressure of the deadline, so the adventure should be pretty suspenseful.

The main character’s name is Ramfis, and he is a very young man who just finished writing his first major novel. However, just when he is about to start partying in celebration, it turns out that he has to rewrite the whole thing, and he has only eight days to make that happen. With a helping hand from his characters, that might just be possible, but other problems arise along the way.

As mentioned before, the characters from the book can interact with Ramfis, and they are not always helpful. In fact, some of them can be quite annoying and disruptive, which is why Ramfis must work around their issues and still make the deadline. Whether he has to deal with terrifying threats or annoying jokes that ruin his concentration, everything is stacked against the main character from the start.

In terms of graphics, The Deadline is actually very enjoyable, especially since the art style is not as common as you might expect from a visual novel. Everything is a bit darker and grittier, yet there is plenty of humor hiding in the environments as well. The characters are all unique as well, which makes it easier to interact with them along the way.

The Deadline is more about the journey than the conclusion, because the writing aspect can be ignored if you do not care for it too much. Hence, the characters are by far the most memorable parts of the game.
