The Club Demo

Unlike most shooters out there, The Club does not concern itself with realism, tactics or comprehensive story lines, but rather puts all of its effort into providing you with as much shooting time as possible. The main purpose of the game is to score points and achieve combos, by quickly dashing through the levels and killing everything that's crosses your path.

Depending on your play style, there are a lot of different characters that you can play with, all of which come with their own abilities and looks. You unlock levels and characters by passing the available events, which range from time trials, to various other challenges that require you to achieve certain scores at the end of the mission.

As previously mentioned, the gameplay is very action-oriented, with nothing to stop you from sprinting and shooting at the same time with a variety of weapons, including rifles, sub-machine guns and even rocket launchers for maximum damage. Although the enemies quickly fall after two or three received bullets, your character can withstand an impressive amount of direct hits without a scratch, not to mention the fact that you find medikits scattered throughout the levels.

The graphic engine used in The Club is capable of rendering and impressive amount of details when it comes to textures and special effects used throughout the game, which allows you to really immerse into the atmosphere. Post-processing effects such as motion blur and depth of field add even more realism to the scenes, especially since the levels are spread across a multitude of environments and settings.

Your main purpose in the game, however, are the combos, which can be achieved by quickly eliminating enemies in a row. Thus, depending on how fast you move through the missions, it is possible to achieve a 30x multiplier combo, although you do have to possess good reflexes to be able to spot every foe and take the decisive shot on him.

Although it might lack depth, The Club was designed as an arcade third-person shooter from the start, with no thoughts other than speed and fun. Hence, taken as what it really is, the game definitely shines when it comes to the entertainment factor, especially if you immerse into the weird world it has created for itself.
