On the other hand, the execution is very important as well, because it doesn’t matter how brilliant the concept is if people cannot enjoy it properly. Hence, it’s definitely not easy to make a successful video game, but it’s simpler if you have a great idea to start with.

Tether Trouble is a puzzle game in which you play the role of a ball of yarn that must escape from a maze. Not just that, but the ball in question also happens to be tethered, which means that you can only go so far before you run out of yarn. The concept is simple, but it’s tons of fun to explore the maze when you know that you may not make it to your destination.

Thankfully, you can quickly rewind and watch the ball grow again when you need to pick a different route. On top of that, the maze is not only disorienting, but it’s also riddled with closed doors and gates that must be activated or unlocked before you can pass through them. Hence, you’ll often trace your steps back to the starting position in order to take advantage of a newly available route.

Most keys are opened by simply rolling over the corresponding switch, although the switch in question is usually in a different area than the door itself. However, other doors require a key in order to be opened, and there’s usually a long search involved before you can acquire the said keys. It’s all part of the fun, however, especially if you enjoy solving mazes.

In regards to the graphics quality, it’s worth mentioning that the game is as simple as it gets, which means that there’s nothing to see except for a few low-resolution textures and the walls of the maze. Even so, the joy comes from the challenge itself, which means that it doesn’t really matter how everything looks if you are having fun.

In conclusion, Tether Trouble is actually quite addictive and engaging, especially since the gameplay mechanics are quite original. However, more content is needed before a clear verdict can be given.
