Terrorist Takedown: Covert Operations Demo
A classic first-person shooter that employs basic mechanics and a dull story to keep the gameplay rolling #Terrorist Takedown #Covert Operations #First-person Shooter #Terrorist #Takedown #Covert
There are very few things out there more violent than the drug world, especially in the South American countries, where the governments are all but helpless when faced with the private armies that keep the drug lords safe. However, due to the fact that most of the product is sold over seas, other nations from around the world step up and do their best to eliminate the threat.
Terrorist Takedown: Covert Operations is the type of game that believes in the one man army approach to the FPS genre, which means that you are alone at all times and you must handle entire enemy bases by yourself most of the time. However, it is also worth noting that you do not have the possibility to employ stealth to make things more interesting, or easier, since the game forces every encounter and you are obligated to start shooting whenever the level designers think it's best.
As far as the background story is concerned, it all revolves around a Colombian cartel that has taken drug trafficking to the next level and its leaders are currently planning to take over the entire region, to assert their dominance. However, the US army cannot just stand idle at the threat and it sends in a team to deal with the situation, with you being part of this team and in charge of making sure that the cartel is eliminated.
Since shooters are basically built around the shooting aspect, it is kind of disappointing to see that very little effort went into providing you with an acceptable set of FPS mechanics. Hence, the guns look and feel very rigid, the enemies react in the most unusual ways to the environment and the fact that you are shooting at them, while the physics engine only briefly makes a cameo from time to time.
The scripts are by far the most annoying, though, since it eliminates any type of choice from the gameplay and completely nullifies any stealth attempts on your behalf. Because every encounter is scripted, the enemies basically appear before you and know exactly where you are before they enter the frame. They can also hit you through walls, see through thick jungle vegetation and generally aim like terminators in most cases, regardless of the difficulty level chosen.
Terrorist Takedown: Covert Operations does not try to innovate the genre in any way, nor tell an interesting story that could maybe eclipse the plethora of technical errors. In the end, there are very few reasons to recommend the game, other than the fact that you get to shoot drug lords.
