Technobabylon Demo

Some of you might have noticed the name of the studio and remembered that it’s the same one that did the well-known Gemini Rue and Blackwell. These have been very well received by the community, so you know that you are getting something of quality. Even if you are put off by the way the game looks, that will pass one you start it and begin solving puzzles.

Point and click adventures that follow the classic recipe only have a few rules to follow. They mustn’t treat people like they are studio and give them difficult problems to solve, and secondly they must feature a powerful story that is capable of supporting the gameplay and the puzzles that are being offered. It’s not enough to give people just random stuff to do to exist a certain level; it all has to make sense.

For some strange reason, many people who think about the far out future of the human race are not all that optimistic about our chance of surviving. We are either killed by aliens, or we destroy ourselves. The result is always the same; we are no longer here. 

The action in Technobabylon takes place in the year 2087, in a future where most of the humanity is spending its time online, with their minds connected online to a service named Trance. 

Mind to mind connections offer the most intimate and complete form of communication, so the streets are empty, and the society is falling apart. No one is willing to leave the Trance. 

The players take on the role of a young woman, Latha Sesame, who is addicted to Trance, but find out that she can’t leave her apartment when her Trance connection goes down. This is just a small part of the demo, but the full also incorporates the adventure of Charlie Regis and Max Lao in the same bleak future.

Technobabylon features a really good story that will keep you hooked and very good voice acting. Check out the demo and get the complete version of the game afterward.
