The story revolves around a spooky mansion called the Heart Family Estate, of which you are in charge of investigating. Most of your time is spent examining the scenes in order to find useful items that might come in handy later on. Depending on the difficulty level you choose, these sequences are either very easy or annoying, because they can turn into a pixel hunt on higher difficulty levels. There are also a few classic hidden object puzzles in which you have to do a bit more than just click on the items.

The other half of the game is spent trying to figure out how to solve various puzzles, although their core mechanics are almost the same in all cases. Hence, you usually have to move things around in a specific order to obtain a certain pattern. Obviously, some of the puzzles are different, but the great majority of them boil down to this simple formula.

Even if it’s not at all challenging for a hardcore adventure game fan, Tales of Terror: Estate of the Heart should be quite the treat for hidden object adventure game fans.
