TEMBO THE BADASS ELEPHANT

Who said elephants can’t go full commando when the time calls for it? Well who ever said it hasn’t met Tembo, the warpaint wearing karate bandana rocking elephant.

You know the main character is a genuine tough guy when he plans on marching straight into the heart of an invasion to kick ass without grabbing a gun, or a knife for that matter. Tembo doesn’t even impale his enemies when ramming them with ferocious speed. But that might be because Sega aims to keep it kid-friendly, less gore generally works.

In TEMBO THE BADASS ELEPHANT your goal is to smash, bash, crush, pulverize, destroy, etc. anything that’s hostile. The game features simple controls that should pass as intuitive and the fact that they’re very responsive give way to an action-packed and fast-paced game.

The level designs in TEMBO THE BADASS ELEPHANT are nice for a game that focuses on destruction. Each one sets you in a different world, and although the gameplay pattern repeats itself, you won’t have time to think about that because there is too much stuff to run into and crush.

Ram into soldiers to see them fly like paper dolls, smash through tons of layers of concrete, bash tanks, and cripple giant robots, each “combat” segment of the game is enjoyable and quite relaxing. For those who get a kick out of smashing stuff, TEMBO THE BADASS ELEPHANT is a good choice.

If the game makes one thing clear is that Tembo is a badass. There’s no denying that. However, it would be great to see that he can be customized to get new crushing skills or devastation perks. If running into stuff or jumping on enemies with his big butt is all that he can do, it might get tedious fast.
