Survive Me

Out in the wilderness, man may not be at the top of the food chain in every situation, unless he has the necessary tools to survive. Without our ability to craft weapons and utilize them against bigger predators, survival would be a lot more difficult. Thankfully, we do not have to worry about that anymore, although zombies seem to be our next logical enemy.

Survive Me is a basic survival game in which your sole purpose is to explore and do everything in your power to remain alive. Whether you have to gather resources, battle enemies, or just find food to fend off starvation, every second you spend in the game should be used to make your life easier. After all, there are hundreds of items you can craft and use, so you certainly won’t get bored.

The action takes place in some kind of futuristic society, sporting cities and the usual wilderness filled with animals and treasure chests, for some reason. Zombies are also part of the action, and they can do a lot of damage if you do not pay attention. With the help of a few weapons and your teammates, the undead can easily be dealt with, as long as you are coordinated.

As far as the game world and the maps are concerned, you shouldn’t expect an endless environment like in Minecraft. Each map is rather small and detailed, but there are many of them you can cross between. It might get a bit annoying after a while, but since there are so many things you can pick up or use on each map, you may not even notice the transition between them.

The visual quality is nothing to stand in awe of, even if the environments are rendered in 3D. You cannot change the perspective, so the three dimensions are more or less useless. The maps are detailed and full of interesting objects, on the other hand, at least most of them. On the other hand, everything slows down when you enter a more crowded area, which is not very pleasant from a game that sports a retro graphics engine.

In the end, it doesn’t really matter how it looks, or whether the story makes any sense. Survive Me is all about survival, as it is obvious from its name. As long as you remain focused on that, the rest is bound to fade into the background sooner or later.
