Super Awesome

Super Awesome is kind of awesome, but it’s mostly super tough. It’s a platformer in which you have to get to a certain point in a trap filled maze to collect a golden coin in order to move on to the next level.

Super Awesome is that kind of platformer that will cause one or 50 rage outbreaks if you’re not used to games that punish lack of skill. In this game perfectly timed jumps, puzzle solving and the ability to visualize how traps will move and act are imperative.

It’s not an absurdly difficult game but it does take precision gameplay to a new level. Each level is filled with different types of traps, be it mobile saw blades, lasers, electric fields, rocket launchers and more and they are grouped in such as way that there’s often very little room for error. One bad move and you restart the level.

A good thing in Super Awesome (kind of) is the fact that every time you restart a level, the traps move and act the same exact way. This allows you to memorize their movement patterns and activation time and finally, if you try enough times, you’ll be able to pass the level.

This doesn’t ensure a lot of replayability value but Super Awesome will challenge you every single second and that’s basically what we’re all looking for in a platformer.

The demo comes with several levels from both modes and are exactly what you need to get a good feel of the game. In terms of visuals, Super Awesome is fairly basic but it does look good and its upbeat soundtrack definitely helps out.
