Square Heroes

All triviality aside, we present you with Square Heroes, an arcade action game that is bound to put a smile on your face due to its goofy looks (and we do mean that as a compliment) and its action packed gameplay.

Arm your little minion with a wrench or a grenade launcher, protect his large head with a chef hat and initiate him into the art of warfare.

As you will find out from the tutorial, your guy is the creation of a scientist who isn’t into Gundams but rather prefers animated squares with arms that are perfect for swinging bats and aiming with large weapons.

The goal of the game is simple. You have your little hero who’s eager for some action and with him you have to win a series of arenas. Multiple game modes such as ‘Deathmatch’, ‘Team Deathmatch’, ‘Gnome Hunt’, ‘Team Gnome Hunt’ and ‘Survival’ are made available, to which you are probably accustomed and familiar to the winning conditions, except for the gnome part, that one’s new.

In Square Heroes, your fighter will be equipped with a jet-pack so all the fighting will be done in the air. If you’re concerned that the controls will be over the top complicated or just a bit frustrating, we can assure you that that won’t be the case. Making your minion fly where and how you want him won’t be a problem and this really compliments melee fighting in the game.

From each battle you gain experience which helps to level up your hero. Consequently, he becomes more powerful and with each victory and unlocked achievement he is granted access to new stylish hats to wear, weapons to equip and other bonuses.

Since a BOT doesn't really have a competitive edge, Square Heroes is fitted with a multiplayer feature in which you can battle it out with friends over the Internet or a local area network. You get the same arenas and modes but getting a double kill on your buddies is much more satisfying than eliminating an AI player.

What Square Heroes offers isn’t necessarily original, there are plenty of indie games that revolve around the same concept but it seems that this one manages to pull it off with style and with that being said, you can start downloading it.
