Being in charge of a company is not such a big deal in the age of startups and Internet crowdfunding campaigns, but that is usually the case with tech companies that rarely put physical products on the market. Huge corporations also have to deal with all sorts of logistical problems, not to mention the fact that such companies have thousands of employees all over the world.
Spinnortality is a different kind of simulator, because it allows you to start an evil mega-corporation in order to sell products, research new technologies and slowly take over the world. The game takes place in a turn-based manner, which means that there are only so many things you can do at once, and certain researches take a while in order to be completed.
You start with just a handful of employers and an idea, but you slowly make more money, hire more people and work toward the ultimate goal. Speaking of which, your final purpose is to become immortal by uploading your brain into a computer. Naturally, such an endeavor requires a lot of cash, so you have a long way to go until you are able to afford the cost for the technology in question.
Everyone knows that social media and marketing campaigns are necessary if you want to make it big nowadays, and these concepts are integrated into the game. You can buy media outlets in order to control the information that gets out for public consumption, while good marketing campaigns can make your crappy products sound much better than they are. In fact, by the end of the game you might even be able to change the world one way or another.
Since the game takes place in turns, you are never rushed to do anything, so the interface does not have to be extremely accessible. However, Spinnortality is still pretty well-designed in this regard, given the fact that most functions are wrapped into neat panels that are very easy to understand and use. The overall graphics are not impressive, but they don’t need to be under the circumstances.
Although it’s far from finished, Spinnortality is definitely worth keeping an eye on, especially if you like simulators. There are very few similar games out there as well, so it certainly doesn’t feel like a clone or anything. Thus, you can show your support by participating in the game’s Kickstarter’s campaign.
