Spin-2 Demo

There are lots of music-driven titles out there that use the beats to power the gameplay and Spin-2 is just one of them. The main difference is that this game doesn't fall into a specific category or genre, making rather unique. The problem is that unique doesn’t always means good, and we can’t say too many good things about Spin-2.

The idea of using the player’s music is an old one and we can back 10 or 15 years to find games that were using this concept. The advantage is that the user gets to play something that he like, which in turn might make him like the game as well. It’s a nifty idea, but it’s difficult to implement, and at best you get a decent title.

Describing how Spin-2 is played is difficult, to say the least. You basically control a small arrow in the middle of the screen that can move in a circular motion, while the rest of the level moves in various directions, depending on the music.

This can be quite a little disconcerting at first, but this is how the game builds difficulty. The more chaotic the song, the more difficult the level. The opposite is true for slow songs, but who listens to those anyway.

The design of the game is really simplistic, and you will find that there not much to see. If you are an epileptic, by any chance, you’ll have a hard time playing. The screen flashes all the time, and I have to say that it’s annoying even for me, and I don’t have any kind of problems.

The goal of the game is to gather as many points as possible, but you need to be careful which numbers you pick. The more you advance in the game, the more difficult it is to lose. Each song will generate its own score, so this will last for as long as you have songs to import.
