Sour Realm Minds Demo

Concentrating on a specific task over a long period of time is not something people enjoy, except in the case of video games. No matter how frustrating and pointless it might be, there will always be someone trying to beat a particular level. However, such games must be very responsive and fair with the players, otherwise the effort has no meaning.

Sour Realm Minds looks about as simple as it is, except that it can significantly speed up the hair loss process if you give it too much of your time. The goal and the gameplay are deceivingly simple as well, because all you need to do is use a random stickman to collect diamonds and reach the glowing checkpoint at the end of the stage.

However, the mechanics are a bit more interesting than that, starting with the level design itself. As it happens, the rules of physics do not really apply when it comes to how space works. Hence, up is down and left is right, although in this case the concept is is designed to mean something else. In essence, if you go right far enough, you end up from where you left, which makes for some interesting experiences.

The other part of the gameplay revolves around your ability to avoid the obstacles lying in your way, including spikes and lightning. While it is quite simple to just jump over them, you need good coordination to land in the right place and remain in motion. There is no time limit to worry about, but the experience gets boring if you just sit and think about every jump beforehand.

When it comes to the graphics, they have never been an issue in the genre, because your mind is constantly distracted by the challenge. However, the game at hand looks smooth, and you at least do not have to worry about not being able to understand what’s happening due to bad graphics. There is no sound at all, but you can put some music in the background if you need to.

All things considered, Sour Realm Minds may not revolutionize the genre with its ideas, but it’s fun and addictive. Unfortunately, it is also short and disappointing, even if it might take you a while to complete the few available levels.
