Sophia's Adventures: The Search for the Lost Relics is a match-three game that allows you to solve puzzles and fight enemies at the same time, although the fighting is actually achieved by making the matches. Hence, there’s no multitasking involved, it just so happens that your actions are also translated into combat moves, and it feels a bit more fun when you are not just mindlessly clicking on shiny things.

The story puts you in the role of a girl by the name of Sophia, who goes on a quest to retrieve an old map that was stolen from a museum. She must defeat all sorts of enemies throughout her adventure, but she has plenty of tools at her disposal to do that. Don’t expect an awful lot in terms of narrative, yet it’s pretty nice to have a plot running in the background, unlike with most match-three games.

In order to perform a match, you must hold down the left mouse button and try to connect as many tiles as you can. You can even go diagonally if you want, but you cannot go through the same cell multiple times. Each type of tile has unique properties, and there are also all sorts of power-ups that can be used to increase your damage output, or even to acquire more turns for your character.

The interface is as simple as it sounds, given the fact that there’s not much else to worry about other than the tiles themselves. There’s a tutorial at the beginning to get you started, and the other mini-games as just as straightforward as the rest of the game. The graphics are fairly enjoyable, even if there’s a bit of pixelation every now and again.

All things considered, Sophia's Adventures: The Search for the Lost Relics is not a particularly original match-three game, but it’s definitely more suspenseful than your average title in the genre.
