Solitaire Chronicles: Wild Guns
Build yourself a home in the wild west while solving Solitaire puzzles combined with match-three mini-games #Solitaire game #Puzzle game #Match three #Solitaire #Puzzle #Match-3
The Wild West has been depicted in a variety of ways in movies and video games, but it’s certainly always violent, regardless of the story or the characters. However, the concept can work in a casual manner as well, since the atmosphere can be recreated using a couple of six shooters, and old-timey saloon and a lot of dust, so it doesn’t really matter whether there are any hardcore shootings or not.
Solitaire Chronicles: Wild Guns is an arcade puzzle game in which you get to tackle classic Solitaire puzzles with simple mechanics, as well as dabble in a few match-three mini-games and a few other challenges. There’s nothing too difficult about the game, so even if you are a newcomer to the genre you can still find your way around the interface and figure everything out in a matter of minutes. The story follows the exploits of Shannon and Red Wolf, who in their travels stumble onto a deserted town that could very well serve as their new home. Rebuilding a whole town is no easy task, on the other hand, so you get to lend a hand to the brave adventurers. Naturally, shooting enters the picture as well, but not in a very violent way.
As mentioned before, there’s a bit of match-three action in-between the Solitaire rounds, but they are fairly simple and enjoyable. There are no complex combo systems to distract you, and the regular levels usually have very simple win rules as well. In fact, all you have to do is click on the cards that follow or precede the one on top of the deck, although things get a bit tougher later on. The graphics are not bad at all, but then again there’s not a lot to see, other than the cards and a few backgrounds that are mostly hidden by the interface and the cards anyway. However, there’s the city building mini-game where you can add structures after each level if you have enough currency, which looks quite nice. The music is not terrible either, but it can get on your nerves after a while.
In the end, Solitaire Chronicles: Wild Guns does not reinvent the wheel, but it’s a decent entry in the genre if you enjoy relaxing puzzle games with Solitaire mechanics. However, it can also get too repetitive after a while.
