Simulation games have the ability to keep the players engaged for long periods of time, especially if the rewards are worth the trouble. SimTower is a very similar concept, except it restrains the action to a single building, rather than a whole city. You have the freedom to build this skyscraper from scratch, on the other hand, as well as decide what to put in it and how to organize its compartments in order to make the tenants happy. The goal is to reach a five star rating, although that takes a rather long while and there are plenty of obstacles to overcome to get there.

To start off with, you need to lay the ground floor and decide how wide you want it to be. There is obviously a limit, not to mention the fact that money is an issue as well, but you can certainly make it big enough to fit any requirements. It is also possible to add up to nine underground levels as well, which can be used for parking and various other such facilities.

Because you start with a meager one-star rating, not a lot of options are available to you in the beginning when it comes to what kind of floors to erect. Living floors are an option, as are cafeterias and office spaces, but slightly more luxurious facilities are only unlocked after you manage to reach a higher rating. Hence, you can then expand your selection to restaurants and hotels, as well as many other interesting businesses.

As previously mentioned, you can only go as high as 100 stories and no more, although that alone does not grant you the five-star rating. Instead, you need to build a cathedral on the last floor and hold a wedding there, which in turn rewards you with the highest rating there is. Money is also important, so you must always keep in mind that profits are important and you need the cash to take care of the tower through thick and thin.

All things considered, SimTower may not be as complex as SimCity, but it certainly comes close in some areas. The tenants must be kept happy and stress-free, which is yet another load on your mind, beside money and the layout of the building as a whole. Hence, the game is liable to keep you entertained for a long time, as long as you are a fan of the genre and you do not mind the rather slow pace of the action.
