Settler's Dawn Demo

A lot of games have started to sprout out here and there following the same resource gathering and crafting themes as the ever-popular game Minecraft, many of them being literal copies of the game with no shame whatsoever. However, once in a blue moon, a game arrives that takes the base features of the game and enhances it to the point where it becomes unrecognizable, and thus can be seen as an original title all of its own. One such game is Settler's Dawn, a neat resource gathering game and a city builder where your goal is to inhabit as many islands as possible.

The game looks gorgeous despise having the aspect of an unfinished game with low polygon count models. The textures are great, the camera works are smooth,and the day and night cycle of the environment makes you just want to sit by the water and gaze upon the sunset. Speaking of which, all of your adventures will be taking place on islands, some of them being bigger than the others, and you will be using your skills to build settlements everywhere.

You start out knowing how to cut trees, pick at rocks and shovel clay, and you will be using various quantities of these resources to build a wide variety of buildings in your settlements, some of which directly influence your resource productivity. You'll also be given a set of objectives for every given island, and once all of those have been met, you'll be able to move on to the next island, while still using the previous ones as a source of passive resource regeneration.

Despite starting out small, Settler's Dawn gives you the option of expanding into a powerful empire filled with music from old western movies which somehow go well  with the island setting of the game. If you're not that much into crafting games, then you should at least try it for the neat and cozy feel it gives off.
