Sector Six Demo
Fight against robotic spaceships and defend the Elder Mechanism in this exciting shoot 'em up game #Shoot 'em up #Space shooter #Spaceship action #Shooter #Shmup #Space
Automated machines would be quite efficient when it comes to space exploration, given the fact that the human lifespan is not fit for interstellar journeys. However, there’s always the concern for them to turn rogue, especially if the AI component is advanced enough. This happened to be the premise in Mass Effect as well, with both the Geth and the Reapers themselves.
Sector Six is a retro shoot ‘em up with role-playing elements in which you control a spaceship that can be customized and improved with various components you pick up along the way. The main idea is that you are fighting against automated spaceships programmed to destroy everything in their path, and you have to survive the journey and maybe even stop the threat once and for all.
Most of the gameplay revolves around shooting rockets at the enemy ships and dodging their attacks, but there’s a bit more to it than just that. For starters, your ship has multiple abilities and ways to attack the enemy, which means that you can alternate between all sorts of rockets and lasers. On the other hand, the more powerful alien ships have the same abilities, so it’s not easy to survive.
It is also possible to pick up special items from the enemies you destroy and use them to customize and upgrade your own ship. These upgrade increase your damage, health and resistance to enemy fire, although this whole part of the game is randomly generated, so each journey is different in this regard. The encounters are random as well, which means that it’s quite a blast to replay the adventure without being annoyed by repetition.
As far as the technical side of things is concerned, the shoot ‘em up genre rarely boasts extravagant graphics, but a lot can be achieved through simplicity as well. The silhouette style used in Sector Six is very appropriate, especially since it’s very simple to create smooth shapes with only one color. However, it would be nice to see some more action in the background, because it gets annoyingly repetitive after a while.
In the end, Sector Six could easily keep you busy for a few hours, especially if you enjoy a challenge and don’t mind dying very often. The randomly generated content allow you to stay excited about the game for much longer.
