Sam and Max: Reality 2.0 Demo

Over the course of the first season, the two detectives from the Sam & Max series managed to achieve a lot, including to become the rulers of the New World. As it happens, Max is now the president of the United States, which makes solving cases a tad easier, given the fact that he controls every agency in the country and he has supreme authority over everyone.

Sam and Max: Reality 2.0 is an iteration in the first season and it basically stretches the story from the first few episodes, with a few minor additions when it comes to characters and the underlying mechanics. However, the rest of the game is the same, which means that the gameplay should feel one hundred percent familiar to those who are fans of the franchise, yet easy enough to pick up for anyone who’s just getting acquainted with it.

The main storyline revolves around some kind of computer malfunction, one that uses video games and alternate realities in order to keep humans distracted from the real world. Almost every piece of electronics stopped working accordingly as well, which means that Sam and his psychopathic bunny friend Max must take on another case and bring the ones responsible to justice.

Just like before, the puzzles lying ahead are quite fun and humorous, but they also require a bit of thinking and logical reasoning, because you must be able to interpret evidence and make proper use of your inventory in order to advance. In essence, you mainly have to talk to people and figure out how to get something from them, which usually implies exploring an area and finding specific objects that can be of help.

The rest of the game is the same as well, with no major changes when it comes to the graphics engine, nor the sound. Some new tunes and effects are present, but nothing out of the ordinary and certainly nothing to change the experience entire. Thus, if you happen to be a fan, then you probably have all the reasons to keep being a fan after this as well.

All things considered, Sam and Max: Reality 2.0 is worthy of its place within the franchise and it is a true point-and-click adventure title, after it’s all said and done. Moreover, the two characters have a tendency to grow on you, which can make them difficult to let go.
