STARDROP - Chapter 1
A Sci-fi first person adventure that will allow players to explore strange ships and solve mysteries #Adventure game #First person adventure #Aryn Vance #Unreal engine #First person #Adventure game
Stardrop is a first person adventure game that takes place far into the future. It’s developed and published by Team V, a group of developers from around the globe.
The guys from Team V are trying to do something really exciting that feels more like reading a Sci-fi book than playing a regular game. Stardrop is described at as first person adventure game, and that’s a really good description for it. For the most part, it plays like a point and click adventure, but since everything is happening from a first person perspective, things are a little bit different.
We rarely see this kind of quality from independent teams, for the game feels most of the time like it’s a triple-A experience. Most likely, the use of Unreal Engine 4 for powering the game has that effect, but there are a few other things that make it feel that way. It’s not without flaws; that’s for certain, but it’s work in progress, and Team V deserves the benefit of the doubt.
The quality of the demo is not what people might expect. It could run great on some configurations and really poorly on others. The lack of engine optimization is evident, but since this is still under development, we’ll let that slide.
Stardrop tells the story of Aryn Vance, a girl with the fancy title of Salvage and Rescue Operative. Her job is to board space ships that are stranded, lost, or destroyed. She goes on board of a really old ship that no one knew even existed, and she unravels a mystery far bigger than she would imagine.
The atmosphere in the game is tense and really well put together, with everything underlined by great lighting. Besides the technical problems that I mentioned earlier, I found that a few of the voice over might need a little bit of work. In any case, Stardrop looks great and, when finished it’s going to be a great adventure if the developers managed to keep this quality.
The story has great potential and, in conjunction with the Unreal Engine we expect that Stardrop will be a great hit.
