Rush for Berlin Demo
A real-time strategy game that takes place in Germany toward the end of the second World War #Real-time strategy #Real-time tactics #World war #Berlin #RTT #RTS
Germany was pretty much on its own toward the end of the second World War, even if it managed to conquer a great part of Europe. Hence, with both the USA and the Soviets coming for the Nazis at the same time, Berlin was Hitler's last stand and the place where his entire regime collapsed unto itself, although the massive Allied invasion also had a great role its demise.
Rush for Berlin is a real-time strategy game with RTT elements thrown in together for a great mix, which tells the story of WWII from yet another slightly different point of view. This time, at the time of the Allied and Soviet attack, the Germans decide to risk it all and went on the counterattack, using one of their experimental weapons to do so and seriously hurting the opposing side, almost enough to cause a retreat from Germany.
Hence, your role in the game is to go through this scenario and see what comes of it, by playing with all of the three available factions and seeing the war from every perspective, before finally finishing it on your terms. Although the Germans, the USA and the Soviets are very similar when it comes to gameplay and the overall style, they do feature a couple of different units from each other, although they do not have that much of an impact on the actual game.
On the other hand, whenever you finish the campaign and you are still on the lookout for a bit of strategy, you can always try one of the other missions that are available, as well as take part in intense skirmishes against the AI, using any of the three factions. Speaking of which, the AI is quite capable of responding to your strategies in kind, as well as take you by surprise if you underestimate it.
However, the curious mix of real-time strategy and tactics can be a bit disorienting at times as well, especially when it comes to the units themselves. For starters, you can choose a few of them to be available at the start of the mission, as well as train more over the course of the scenario. However, there are no resources to talk about, while each type of unit has a hero-like member that's capable of much more powerful feats and can turn the tide of a battle on its own.
In the end, Rush for Berlin brings together the right elements and it presents them in a very pretty package, all without sacrificing too much depth in the process. Hence, newcomers and veterans alike can enjoy the experience, although the latter might have appreciated a bit more tactical freedom and bigger maps.
