Run Far
Collect coins and perform daring parkour moves in this free running game that provides you with complete freedom #Parkour game #Free running #Urban exploration #Parkour #Freerun #Run
Parkour is a pretty new sport, mainly because it requires urban environments to be expressed. The individuals who perform it need to be in top physical shape, especially if they decide to include wild acrobatics in their routine. Not only that, but some of the jumps can put tremendous strain on your legs, which can go very wrong if you are not conditioned to deal with it.
Run Far is a free running game that allows you to enjoy the sport without putting yourself in harm’s way. It’s still under heavy development right now, so there are many things that are not as tight as they could be, but the freedom you are provided with is worth the trouble. In short, this aims to be an open world parkour experience with no limits in regards to movement.
There are, however, a few mini-games that give you purpose when you get tired of trying new stunts. One of them consists of collecting a series of coins that are spread all over town, and some are quite difficult to reach. It may not be very original, but the challenge is fun enough that it doesn’t matter. More are going to be added in the future, at least if the project is going to evolve some more.
The actual running is pretty intuitive and simple to understand, especially if you have enjoyed similar games before, such as Mirror’s Edge. You can sprint, run on walls, jump and slide underneath various obstacles. Obviously, the fun part is combining these in rapid successions, otherwise the experience is pretty dull. Still, the wall run mechanics need to be refined a bit, because there’s almost no feedback to let you know whether you are actually still touching the wall or not.
The same goes for the controls, which although are dynamic enough to let you achieve interesting combos, they can be rather slow and glitchy every now and again. Your character seems to jump wildly after a wall run, and it can be pretty disorienting. Thankfully, you cannot die, so at least there’s not much to worry about if you fall from too high up.
In the end, Run Far may have its flaws, but it’s only normal at this early stage in its development. The freedom is great, and the mechanics could be just right after a few improvements in certain areas.
