Rotoadventures: Momo's Quest Demo

Furry little animals may look like they are constantly joyful and ready to have a bit of fun, but their lives are just as filled with danger and obstacles as everyone else’s. Hence, even the adorable squirrels must fight for their lives from time to time, not to mention the constant struggle to find food and survive the harsh winters that leave them unable to provide for themselves.

Rotoadventures: Momo's Quest is a sidescroller in which you get to help one of these squirrels solve its problems, by reuniting it with its master and avoiding all the traps on the way there. The gameplay is not very innovative or original, but the mechanics are sturdy and you can certainly learn to play it in no-time, given the fact that you only need to use the mouse to move, run and jump, which is all you need to do anyway.

You can also affect the story in a small way, by making certain decisions from time to time and getting points toward the Dark or the Light, depending on how you act. However, you should definitely not expect anything impressive, since the emphasis is clearly put on gameplay, rather than the story itself. In essence, you just have to run, collect shiny objects and jump over pits in order to avoid dying.

Momo needs to go a long way to meet his master again, which is why there are plenty of levels for you to enjoy and tackle over the course of the main campaign. Each one of these levels can be replayed whenever you wish, in order to score higher, or see how fast can you move when you are already familiar with the layout and the traps waiting for you.

The most intuitive thing about the game is the control scheme, since you only need the mouse to move Momo around. Moving the cursor to the edge of the screen makes the squirrel move toward that direction, or even run of the cursor is all the way to the edge. To make matters more amusing, the cursor is actually an acorn, so it looks like you are actually luring it all through the levels.

Overall, Rotoadventures: Momo’s Quest may not be the best platformer out there, but it is certainly easy to play and a lot more intuitive than most games. The environments are very amusing and the visual presentation top-notch, albeit the camera is a bit too slow to keep up with the main character.
