Rory's Restaurant Origins
Help Rory go through culinary school in her summer holiday and participate in a variety of hidden object and time management mini-games #Time management #Hidden object #Match three #Cook #Restaurant #Puzzle
The way we cook things has changed a lot throughout the course of human history, given the fact that simply holding a piece of meat over the fire was enough just a few centuries ago. People figure out that things taste better if you combine them, and then the art of seasoning came about as well. Nowadays, cooking recipes can be as complex as differential equations in some cases, especially if you want restaurant-grade food.
Rory's Restaurant Origins is a time management game with hidden object and match-three mini-games included as well, which should keep you from getting bored too quickly. However, the difficulty level is very adjustable, so both beginners and veterans can have fun with the game at their own pace. There’s a nice story running in the background as you blitz through the stages.
As the name gives it away, the story is about Rory, a young woman who owns a restaurant and is a pretty well-known cook. However, this episode focuses on her beginnings, or more exactly a culinary course she undertook during her summer holiday. Hence, you get to see what it takes to become a master chef, although your job as a player is not nearly as complex.
The main game mode is a combination of time management elements and hidden object mechanics, given the fact that you have to serve people as quickly as possible by spotting all the required ingredients around the kitchen. To make things even more interesting, there are match-three sequences too, which bring a bit of variety to the adventure and keep the experience from becoming repetitive.
As for the graphics and the interface, all you need is a mouse in order to click on things and interact with certain objects. The visual quality is pretty standard for the genre, although it must be mentioned that the resolution is pretty low, so you might spot some pixelation if you run the game on a bigger monitor. Lastly, the music and the sound effects are not too bad either, but they certainly do not impress.
In the end, it’s great that Rory's Restaurant Origins allows you to customize the difficulty level, especially if you are a beginner who’s not yet accustomed to the fast pace required by time management levels. Thus, it should cater to the vast majority of players, regardless of any previous experience.
