RoboBlitz Tech Demo
A physics-based action game in which your sole purpose is to survive wave after wave of enemy drones #RoboBlitz Demo #Robot simulator #Robot shooter #Robot #Shooter #FPS
Robots are not advanced enough to be used as autonomous combat drones yet, but technology is surely working non-stop toward this goal. Until the singularity wipes out humanity, however, you can have a bit of fun with a video game that simulates these vicious robots and provides you with the chance to control one of them, in an attempt to survive endless waves of enemies.
RoboBlitz is a third-person action game in which your primary purpose is to keep on shooting as much as you can, in order to destroy the hordes of mechanic foes that spawn all around you. By using the two weapons that also happen to stand as your arms, along with various power-ups and upgrades you can pick up on the way, you must clear wave after wave of vicious drones, in order to gather points and avoid being destroyed yourself.
While the game does greet you with a comfortable third-person point of view, you can easily adjust it using the scroll wheel, so much so that you can actually zoom in enough to play from the first-person perspective as well. However, due to the fact that the arena in which you are placed is circular and the enemies spawn all around you, it would be wise to keep the original view, in order to always be aware of your surroundings and avoid being caught by surprise.
In case the prospect of continuously shooting at mindless robots sounds boring to you, fear not, for the atmosphere constantly evolves depending on the weapon you wield. Hence, while machine gun-style rapid fire extensions are capable of hitting many enemies in a very short time span, the various rocket launchers available make things a bit more fun and explosive. Each weapon also requires a different approach, since they do different amounts of damage and you must learn how to use them efficiently.
From a technical standpoint, the game is indeed interesting and somewhat innovative, especially when it comes to the way the robot moves. Since it is basically a physics-driven experiment, every mobile part of its body reacts as you would expect, while inertia is definitely present and it has a deep impact on your ability to move around the arena. The Unreal 3 engine makes things even better, due to the fact that the objects are very detailed and there are plenty of special effects to please everyone.
Even if it is not a finished product and there are many things that need a bit of tinkering, RoboBlitz does hold a lot of potential, especially if the developers manage to add more content, different enemies and a lot more power-ups. The physics engine alone makes the game worth trying, not to mention the beautiful graphics and the constant explosions.
