The fact that you are constantly hunted by a monster makes the experience feel more thrilling, even if the actual encounters can be rather anti-climactic. Most of your time is spent trying to understand how the items you find go together, which can again be a bit boring under the circumstances. On the other hand, there are plenty of interesting cutscenes, as well as many thought-provoking puzzles that need to be solved in order to get out of the game alive.

Every scene is drawn to perfection, and there are all sorts of special effects added on top to help with the atmosphere.
