Rising Angels: Fates Allegiance
Explore a strange planet and save innocent people in this colorful visual novel with a fairly long story #Rising angels #Visual novel #Kinetic novel #Novel #Sci-fi #Fantasy
Visual novels are more like interactive stories than video games, given the fact that most of the time they seldom contain any gameplay elements. In fact, your job as a player is to read the text on the screen and click to move on to the next slide. However, they can be pretty powerful and engaging if the writing is good and the artwork manages to inspire the proper atmosphere.
Rising Angels: Fates Allegiance is a kinetic visual novel that’s part of the Rising Angels series, which means that it continues the events from the first episode. Granted, you don’t actually have to be familiar with the original game in order to play this one, but it certainly helps if you want to understand the plot better and create some sort of connection with the characters.
In this episode, the plot starts when a girl comes to the main character asking for help after a ship transporting an important researcher disappears on a planet somewhere. Hence, the journey is all about exploring the said planet and overcoming various dangers in order to find the members of the spaceship crew that crashed there. Obviously, a few other problems arise along the way.
As it’s often the case, romance plays an important role in the grand scheme of things, since the characters cannot seem to keep themselves from falling for one individual or the other. There are no choices to be made, unfortunately, even if you can select the desired dialog choices every now and again. As the developers say, there’s only one ending you can reach no matter what you do.
No visual novel is complete without some artwork to go along with the story. Thankfully, there are plenty of interesting backgrounds throughout Rising Angels: Fates Allegiance, and you can tell that the artists are quite talented. It’s a bit of a shame that you are not allowed to explore the wonderful worlds shown in the game, but then again it’s to be expected.
All things considered, Rising Angels: Fates Allegiance may contain a few weird characters and a rather convoluted story, but it’s fairly enjoyable and quite the trip if you are a visual novel buff. It features beautiful artwork that helps with immersion.
