The game is obviously a continuation of the first episode in the series, although not much has been changed except for the location and the story. Hence, you should be able to jump straight into it if you are familiar with the first episode.

In short, this part revolves around the same Ricky, who is now on an adventure in the distant ancient Egypt, where he must dig and uncover a variety of valuable artifacts, plus a lot of gold. You can obviously ignore the story entirely and focus on the actual gameplay, but it can be fun to pay attention to the action between the levels every now and again.

The great thing about Ricky Raccoon 2: Adventures in Egypt is that almost every level sports different gameplay mechanics, even if they repeat themselves after a while. Hence, sometimes you just have to collect a certain number of a specific tile, while other times you must include gold nuggets in your matches to get the required score. Speaking of which, there are time limits to watch out for as well, depending on whether you play in the relaxed mode or not.

Lastly, the graphics are nothing to write home about, unfortunately, given the fact that the backgrounds are fairly simple and there’s nothing overly exciting happening on the screen at any given time. However, the special effects are quite nice when you score a combo, and the colors are very bright and enjoyable, albeit a bit too annoying sometimes.

In the end, Ricky Raccoon 2: Adventures in Egypt lacks the initiative to be remembered as an original game, but then again that’s not a huge deal in the genre. Thus, at least it provides you with a few hours of entertainment if you are not too picky.
