Reptilians World War Demo

Not all stories need to make sense in our day-to-day lives in order to be exciting and engaging, which is why we people love science fiction so much. Hence, video games featuring huge robots and intergalactic space battles receive a lot of attention, perhaps just as much as those that present you with the endless war between humans, orcs and the elves.

Reptilians World War is a retro shoot ‘em up that features fast-paced action and all sorts of crazy concepts, such as reptilians trying to conquer our planet and laser-shooting helicopters trying to stop them. Naturally, this doesn’t really matter in a game such as this one, because your full attention is concentrated on the actual shooting, not on the implications of a reptilian race attempting to destroy Earth.

You have multiple characters to choose from, each one of which pilots a different ship. Unfortunately, they are not available in the demo, so it’s difficult to comment on how much the gameplay differs when you switch from one character to the other. It should be a great way to encourage multiple playthroughs, on the other hand, especially if you have to learn new tricks with each pilot.

As for the actual gameplay, your goal is to destroy all the enemies that appear on the screen and make your way to the boss at the end of the level. Thus, the most challenging part is dodging the enemy projectiles and staying alive, although it would appear that the demo does not punish you for dying. Hence, the final game is probably going to be a lot more difficult, especially since this is barely the first level.

You can also collect points and power-ups to increase the power and reach of your weapons. This allows you to deal more damage to multiple enemies at once, which comes in handy when you are attacked from all sides. As for the graphics, the backgrounds certainly look nice, but it can be a tad difficult to distinguish the lasers sometimes, which may lead to some annoying deaths.

All things considered, there’s hardly anything too original about Reptilians World War, especially when it comes to gameplay. However, it can still be a fun experience if you enjoy retro shoot ‘em ups, as long as the difficult level is increased by the time the final version is released.
