Redneck Kentucky
Chickens are invading the world and it is your job to stop them from taking over, using the good old rifle to do so #Shoot chicken #Mad chickens #Arcade shooter #Redneck #Kentucky #Mad
Chickens are quickly becoming the preferred villains in video games, especially when you consider the lengthy and popular Chicken Invaders series. Despite the fact that they do not look all that menacing in reality, they are quite capable of causing destruction on a massive scale if they are to be ignored, as it can be clearly observed in video games.
Redneck Kentucky is a fun arcade shooter that presents the very same problem, only it doesn't go all the way in space, but rather prophesies a full-scale invasion of the Earth. Hence, every corner of the world is in danger and the little winged monsters are doing their best in order to bring havoc and chaos over the humanity, as long as they go unchallenged and no one rises to the occasion to put an end to their reign.
Naturally, you get to play the role of the redneck who decides to take matters into his own hands and start dealing with the invasion the only way he knows how: by defending his property with the good old trusty shotgun. Using funny dialogue and plenty of situational humor, the game usually has you with a constant grin on your face, which is only normal, considering the absurdity of the events unfolding on the screen.
As you would expect, the action is not exactly realistic and you should definitely not expect an accurate ballistics system, recoil, or even a believable depiction of the actual gun. Hence, the arcade elements are all there, since you can pick up power-ups in the form of better ammo, or gather eggs and accumulate as many points as you can over the course of the missions. Points are also awarded every time you shoot something, so you should definitely not hold onto the bullets.
One thing that might impress you after the first loading screen is the fact that the visuals are quite good-looking, despite the goofy models and the wacky environments. This is because the game uses Unreal Engine to render everything you see, which is quite the feat, considering the theme of the title and its attitude, but a nice surprise nonetheless.
Redneck Kentucky may not win any awards for storytelling or originality, but it can certainly make your day brighter and bring a smile to your face. Moreover, the fine graphics quality and the funny dialogue are enough to keep you playing through the missions, especially since they get trickier as you advance further and further.
