RPG Tycoon
Construct an RPG inspired town, hire heroes, build taverns and armories, and see it grow into a mighty kingdom #Build RPG town #Town building simulator #Kingdom simulator #RPG #Town #Kingdom
RPG Tycoon is a game that pitches a very good subject, or so it should seem if you’ve played some RPGs or MMORPGs. I’ve had my moments of roaming through some of the small towns or large cities that could be found within the aforementioned game genres, and at times, I did ask myself what do the NPCs do in their free time, or what’s the story behind that place.
RPG Tycoon comes somehow close to showcasing that but at a border approach. It lets you build an RPG themed town, hire heroes, buy new lands, get some businesses going and expand until you have an almighty kingdom.
The game embodies multiple features that are more or less obvious from other Tycoon type games. Since the word Tycoon is there, yes, a good deal of the gameplay revolves around finding ways to generate revenue. After all, how else do you buy lands and build things? I don’t recall being able to buy a few acres of land in WoW using a precious gem I searched for days on end (although maybe I haven’t played it enough).
A nice part about RPG Tycoon is how you make that money. You can hire and send heroes on quests and depending on their success rate you get followers. The number of followers translates into town experience; it levels up, you get new buildings, and once you start constructing, people start coming to your town to spend cash. It’s kind of like a Mall Tycoon but with rogues, heroes, villains, and, without the actual mall.
In RPG Tycoon, there are several things you should keep count of if you want to be successful. You have to figure out which heroes to send on which quests to get the biggest number of followers, what to build, and even how to decorate.
So far, there’s not a lot of content but the game will keep you active for a long time as it is. More so, even the graphics are nice. It all looks and feels like RPG Tycoon is that kind of game you casually play when you want to reflect on serious stuff.
To end, RPG Tycoon is a game you should have in your library whether you’re a Tycoon, RPG or casual gamer. It just feels right and with the right polish applied to it once it’s ready, it might end up being something really good.
