Explore a dark dungeon, avoid the monster that lives there and collect skulls in order to reach new high scores #Horror game #Survival game #Permadeath survival #Horror #Survive #Survival
Survival games are usually quite addictive as long as they feature enough engaging elements, but the formula has been reused too many times in the last couple of years. Hence, there are dozens of popular survival games at the moment, most of which are based on finding food, avoiding monsters, or just building a shelter to protect yourself from the elements and the monsters that roam the world.
Quick Horrors is a first-person exploration game in which you have to look for skulls in dark dungeons and avoid the nasty monster that’s hunting you. It’s not a very original formula, but at least the action is fast-paced and the level design is tricky enough to keep you guessing. On top of that, you can always aim for a new high score and find pleasure in playing over and over again.
To make it even harder for you, the game features two separate game modes, depending on how brave you are. Thus, you can try the normal single player mode and just explore the map in search of skulls without worrying too much about what happens when you meet the monster. On the other hand, you can also try the permadeath mode and loathe every encounter with the nasty creature.
The more you manage to survive, the more points you gather, although finding skulls is even more important. The monster is not that scary at all, but you almost never see it coming, not to mention the fact that it affects your ability to concentrate. The levels are randomly placed to create a dungeon floor, and there are over three dozen floor designs included with the game.
As for the graphics, there’s nothing particularly exciting about them, even if the game uses Unity to render everything. It may not look very well, but the atmosphere can be quite pressing under the right circumstances, even if most of the time you are focused on increasing your score instead. Thankfully, at least the controls are accurate and responsive, otherwise frustration would make it difficult to enjoy yourself.
In the end, Quick Horrors is not a revolutionary game, but it can be an addictive one if you like to chase high scores. Moreover, it’s also fast-paced and exciting, which is always great news for survival fans.
