Quantum Suicide Demo

Whether it’s because of pollution, man-made disaster or an unlucky cosmic event, the Earth is eventually going to become too hostile for humans to inhabit. When that happens, it would probably be a good idea to be prepared for it, which means that we should already be settling on other planets, or at least be able to survive for an extended period of time in special spaceships.

Quantum Suicide is an interactive story that allows you to envision a future in which our planet is not as welcoming as it once was. In an attempt to save our species, a huge spaceship is built and manned by humanity’s best specimens. These selected individuals would have to start a lineage aboard the spaceship and make sure that the mission is a success, although it is obviously easier said than done.

The story revolves around you and six other individuals you have the possibility to interact with. Since you have the option choose between being a boy or a girl, there are three other males and females on the spaceship. Each one of them has a unique personality, which means that you have to approach them with care and be careful about what you say. In fact, saying the wrong thing can actually get you killed.

Romance is an important part of the game, as it usually goes with visual novels. The game is pretty explicit and thorough in this regard, so you shouldn’t have trouble finding the girl or the boy you like. Your choices affect how others perceive you, and some are more sensitive to what you say than others. Hence, it is not always a sound strategy to try and please a single person, because others might cause you a lot more trouble for ignoring them.

As the developers proudly tell us, there are over thirty possible endings, both good and bad, as well as true. There are various decisions along the way that influence how everything ends, and it’s really fun to go back and try things a different way. The artwork is sublime in most cases, although there are some characters that don't stand out very much yet, probably because the game is still early in the development phase.

In the end, Quantum Suicide already seems to have everything it needs to please the fans of the genre. As long as the complete game is as polished as this demo and the promise regarding the staggering number of endings holds true, there’s nothing stopping this from becoming a crowd favorite.
