Project Xenoclone Demo
Defeat wave after wave of terrible monsters in this top-down shooter with a comic book-style approach #Xeno clone #Top-down shooter #Arcade shooter #Shooter #Top-down #Shoot
Mutants and aliens never seem to be very friendly, which is why shooters have such a good time using them as cannon fodder. Regardless of their motives, intentions, or feelings toward humankind, there’s very little emotion involved in gunning them down by the hundreds. In essence, they’re on the same level as zombies, except for the infection gimmick.
Project Xenoclone is a pretty basic top-down shooter in which you get to rain destruction on a swarm of monsters, as you try to survive the constant onslaught and save the world from the horror as well. Naturally, all of this takes place somewhere in the future, where laser guns are hand-held and no one bats an eye at the sight of advanced robots.
As far as the story is concerned, it all revolves around a security guard by the name of David and a doctor named Julia, who must deal with a sudden outbreak at a highly-advanced nanotechnology laboratory. Even if they are not nearly as experienced as real soldiers, they can make it against all odds, as long as you help by directly taking control over them, obviously.
Shooting-wise, everything is about as straightforward as possible, since you have to use both mouse buttons to deliver the blows. As it happens, these mutants are either vulnerable to the blue laser, or the red, so you must choose the right one in order to damage them. You can run out of ammo if you are not careful, but since each mutant drops ‘energy’ for your weapon after you kill it, the chances for that to happen are pretty low.
Visually, the game uses comic book-style artwork to depict the story in-between the gameplay sessions, although the engine itself is rather colorful during the action as well. There’s plenty of blood and gore, on the other hand, so this is definitely not something dedicated to small children either. Unfortunately, the soundtrack is a tad too repetitive not to be muted after a few minutes, so the atmosphere can get dull rather quickly.
All things considered, Project Xenoclone is not exactly something you would personally pick and play if you had to choose. However, if there’s nothing better out there and you get stuck with this one, then you can probably have a decent time for an hour or so, after which it gets way too repetitive and boring to continue.
