Prehistoric Kingdom Demo
Create a huge zoo featuring prehistoric animals and dinosaurs in this sandbox game with a few strategy elements #Dinosaur simulation #Zoo management #Dinosaur park #Dinosaur #Zoo #Sim
Even though they have been extinct for millions of years, dinosaurs seem to be very popular with many people nowadays, especially if you take into consideration all the movies and video games on the subject. There’s something about them that makes them very intriguing, such as the fact that they were huge killing machines, or enormous herbivores that towered a few meters above the ground.
Prehistoric Kingdom is a sandbox game that allows you to create your very own Jurassic Park, as well as manage it and take care of the animals that populate it. Every aspect of the zoo is left up to you, including the buildings, the fences that keep the animals enclosed, as well as the facilities that provide the workers and the dinosaurs with water, energy and food.
You start by customizing a few things about the game mode and the map, although the demo at hand only features a handful of options. Hence, you can pick the park name, the amount of starting funds, difficulty level, and even the number of seasons. The full game is going to feature more possible maps as well, but the one available in the demo is pretty huge anyway, so there’s plenty of space to build what you want.
Building the park is anything but easy, especially since there are so many things you have to consider. Shelters and feeding posts are essential to keep the animals happy, but staff buildings are required as well, and they need to be connected to a power and water supply too. Thus, you really need to think about the layout of your park before starting, lest you find yourself unable to connect all the facilities together.
The interface is quite helpful and intuitive as well, even if there are many buttons and menus you have to get acquainted with. Moving and scrolling are achieved by mouse, and it is also possible to zoom in or out as much as you want. As a bonus feature, you can always jump into a jeep and take a ride across the map from a much more personal perspective, which helps a lot with the atmosphere.
Although it’s far from ready at this point, Prehistoric Kingdom has enormous potential, especially if the developers keep up the good work and continue to add features. Hence, it’s a great sandbox experience for dinosaur and management lovers, and the niche is not overly exploited either.
