Pizza Express Demo

There seems to be a hunger in the gaming community for restaurant simulations, which is a weird genre. To be fair, most of the restaurant sims are pretty casual, and the same can be said about Pizza Express. The main difference is the increased difficulty, and if you’re not really willing to learn the recipes by heart you’re not going to get very far.

The idea behind Pizza Express is a little bit more complicated than it lets on. You’re not just making pizzas, you also manage the restaurant to a certain degree, and you need to keep an even on finances.

The goal of the full game is to run the restaurant of Gastone and Lucky and to win the competition set forth F.L.A.B. (Finger Licking Associated Bistros) in just 30 days. It doesn’t seem like much, but it’s actually a really tall order.

Most of the time you’ll be putting ingredients over pizza dough, but you’re always racing against the clock. You need to learn the recipes by heart, especially since orders usually have multiple items, and you don’t have the time to check what you need to put on the pizza each time.

It’s a fairly difficult game, but if you’re a fan of restaurant simulations you’re going to love Pizza Express. Nothing compares with the thrill of having to serve customers so that they don’t get angry, leaving you in debt and ruin.

The developers of the game from Onni Interactive chose an eight bit-type graphics and music from the same period. That might be fine on a certain level, and it works with this type of gameplay.

The only problem is that this game running on a full HD screen looks silly, at best. It needs a much small screen to be appreciated. This is not a critique per se, but I found it at least disturbing, and I’m pretty sure that I’m not the only one.
