Pilot Down: Behind Enemy Lines Demo
A stranded fighter pilot must find his way out of Nazi-occupied territory and survive behind the enemy lines #Pilot Down #Behind Enemy Lines #Stealth shooter #Pilot #Down #Behind
Getting trapped behind enemy lines is definitely no picnic, especially if it happens to be winter and you are not exactly dressed for the occasion. Being alone makes the situation that much more dire, while the lack of food and shelter can take its toll on your health. However, people managed to survive such endeavors back in the day and get through much worse only to come back home.
Pilot Down: Behind Enemy Lines is a third-person action-adventure game in which you have to use stealth in order to survive, since brute force is not exactly an option, considering the fact that you are alone and not very well armed. However, you must also stay warm, find food and patch your wounds, otherwise your chances get slimmer and slimmer by the minute out in the frozen wilderness.
As the title clearly implies, the story talks about a pilot who crashes in the middle of the enemy territory, after a botched bombing. Naturally, he survives the actual crash, but might not have been such a good thing after all. The surrounding area is crawling with Nazi soldiers and, just to make matters worse, it is the middle of the winter, with freezing temperatures and a lot of snow covering the land.
The stealth mechanics are pretty nicely implemented, in the sense that you have a choice when it comes to putting them into use or not. Thus, it is possible to hide behind objects and sneak around the enemies, or face them head-on and put your aim to the test. You can also strangle enemies quite easily if you approach them from behind without making any noise.
Speaking of which, the A.I. is not exactly the sharpest tool in the shed, since they are very easy to surprise and kill, especially if you crouch and don’t make noises. Their aim is also quite awful and you have plenty of time to fix the crosshair on their head before taking the shot. On the other hand, you can pretend you are a really good spy and ignore these flaws.
Although Pilot Down: Behind Enemy Lines didn’t do its best this time around, it is worth noting that the developers put a great deal of effort into the game itself. The comic book-style cutscenes are nice, the graphics are decent and the gameplay is bearable for the most part. However, the potential was there and a lot more could have been achieved with just a little more patience.
