Papyrus Warfare Demo
Eliminate monsters and survive wave after wave of creatures in this basic arcade shooter #Arcade Survival #Arcade Shooter #Monster Shooter #Papyrus #Warfare #Survival
Whenever a video game or a movie tries to touch the end of the world subject, it’s always either zombies or aliens. Although the aliens come in a variety of forms and personalities, the zombies are almost always the same, which makes it difficult to stay excited about the genre for too long. However, it’s apparently still working, because many shows and video games are doing it.
Papyrus Warfare is a 2D survival shooter in which your primary purpose is to stay alive through what appears to be a monster invasion of the Earth. Complexity is not part of the equation and neither is realism, which means that you are left with a very repetitive and childish game, which would be fine if guns and gore weren't included in the package as well.
You never really find out too much about the story, mainly because there really isn’t one in the true sense of the word. However, someone thought it would be a good idea to include an unskippable intro scene, complete with credits and a badly drawn perspective of a city in flames. No one ever profited from including unskippable cutscenes, so maybe it wasn’t the brightest ideas to add one.
As mentioned before, the game gets repetitive in a hurry, mostly because there is only one map and it is incredibly small, with just a few tiles of dirt and an unimpressive background. Since you can only play the survival mode, this map is static, and you just have to sit around waiting for the monsters to spawn until you either die or run out of ammo. That can happen, by the way, because you have no melee weapon.
The actual monsters are basically squares with eyes that inflict damage on the soldier if you let them get too close, so no one is going to have nightmares after playing the game. It is hilarious to see the main character bend like a puppet while following your cursor, because no effort went into trying to make the animations look decent, if not realistic.
In the end, Papyrus Warfare is just too repetitive and too empty to provide anyone with any significant amount of fun. While it is indeed just a demo, maybe including a long intro sequence wasn’t such a good idea, when the rest of the game is barely playable.
