Thanks to the astonishing machinery that was available at the time, the battlefield was quickly taken over by airplanes, tanks and jeeps, which means that everything moved faster and packed a deadly punch.

Panzer Elite Action is an action game that blends strategy elements into its composition in order to provide the players with an accurate depiction of the confrontations that ultimately decided the fate of the war. To achieve this, a lot of work went into properly modeling and simulating the behavior of the armored vehicles, including details regarding their purpose on the battlefield and accurate ballistics.

As you might have guessed, the tanks are modeled after the real ones used by both factions, which means that you get to control German Tigers and American Shermans as well, depending on which mission you happen to undertake. Naturally, they differ quite a lot when it comes to control, capabilities and power, since each model has a specific strength and role, although they are all quite resilient in their own right, regardless of who built them.

As this demo shows, the game has a very refined multiplayer component as well, in which you are free to go head-to-head against up to 31 players from around the world and match your skills in large-scale battles across a variety of maps. Since most of the mechanics from the singleplayer mode are kept intact, the same tactics and strategies are available online as well, although humans opponents might have an easier time dismantling your tactics than the AI.

To emphasize on realism and historical accuracy, a rather potent graphics engine is used as well, which is quite capable of rendering large amounts of detail when it comes to the vehicles themselves. Hence, every model looks incredibly detailed and photo-realistic, but the environments and the maps have received the same amount of care, especially considering their respectable size.

In the end, Panzer Elite Action is definitely a title worth trying, especially if you are interested in history and you enjoy a good tank simulator. However, you also need to be prepared to deal with some rather complicated and difficult missions, since the tactical nature of the game is not very friendly with newcomers.
