Point & click games were quite common over a decade ago, since it was far easier and less demanding on computers to pre-render the graphics and let the player interact only with specific objects. Nowadays it’s a lot less demanding to render everything in real-time, and it is also possible to include much more detail in the objects and in the environments the players interact with throughout the game.

Panmorphia is a point & click adventure game in which you have to solve all sorts of puzzles in order to advance from stage to stage, while also admiring a breathtaking world with different rules than our own. The game may be a tad too complicated for casual adventure fans, but the puzzles can be figured out with a little bit of imagination, so you shouldn’t feel intimidated either.

As far as the story is concerned, you play the role of “the chosen one”, which means that you are special and somewhat powerful. In this particular universe, people like you are able to bend elements to their will and transform into animals, which obviously comes in handy. However, you quickly get stuck in a different world, and your adventure is spent trying to reopen the portal and go back.

The puzzles range in difficulty and type, since you’ll usually have to tackle a variety of problems. Whether you have to find hidden items around the environment or deal with intricate locks, the adventure is diverse enough to keep you from getting bored. However, their difficulty is all over the place as well, so it might get frustrating to jump from a very simple puzzle to a very tough one in the span of a few minutes.

One of the most surprising things about the game is the quality of the graphics, even if they are mostly static and pre-rendered. The environments are gorgeous and very detailed, which really makes you feel like you are part of the world that surrounds you. Although you may not be able to freely explore the environment, it should be enough to keep the illusion going.

In the end, Panmorphia is certainly a polished game, and you can tell that from the first few minutes of gameplay. Hence, even if the puzzles can be a tad chaotic at times, the experience is entertaining enough to please casual fans and provide them with a great journey.
