Pacific Storm: Allies Demo
Fight in the Pacific as either the US forces or Imperial Japan, in order to change the course of history #Pacific Storm #Aircraft simulator #Strategy game #Pacific #Storm #Allies
Few of the Word War II battles were as crucial as the attack on Pearl Harbor, given the fact that it forced the US into the war, which ultimately ended with them dropping the hydrogen bomb onto Japan. As such, one might wonder whether the entire thing could have gone differently if the American forces managed to repel the attack.
Pacific Storm: Allies is a strategy game with flight simulator elements that allows you to be a part of the greatest scenarios from the Pacific, both from a general’s point of view, and a pilot’s. Hence, a portion of the gameplay is spent from the classic top-down view, while rest can be played from the cockpit of a plane, in case you wish to have a more personal input on the battle.
Just like its predecessor, the game is pretty complicated when it comes to functions and interface, but not so much so not to allow newcomers to figure everything out using the tutorial. The strategic phase might prove to be a tad more difficult, because you have to deal with a lot of units at the same time and each one of them needs to be told exactly what to do.
There are many other things you have to keep an eye on as well, in order for the war to go according to plan. Various alliances are possible, regardless of whether you play as the United States, or the Imperial Japan. In fact, diplomacy is a rather important part of the game, as is the financial aspect, given the fact that war quite costly, as everybody knows.
From a technical point of view, everything looks pretty nice and detailed, at least when you consider the age of the game. Unfortunately, the rest of the technical aspects are an absolute mess, especially when it comes to performance and bugs. The game is liable to crash at any second, especially if you take direct control over one of the units.
All things being equal, Pacific Storm: Allies had a lot of potential, because it is a rather unique blend of genres that can yield excessive amounts of entertainment. However, it is very difficult to enjoy the experience when nothing works as it should and the bugs make your life hell.
