PT Boats Knights of the Sea Demo

Out on the sea, danger can come from every direction and there aren't too many places you can flee to, in case the ship you are on gets destroyed. Although large battleships may provide you with a great deal of firepower and comfort, they are also quite easy to spot and target, which means that they can easily be tracked and hunted down if they do not have the necessary support fleet accompanying them.

PT Boats Knights of the Sea is a naval simulator that allows you to experience the thrill of being in a naval battle, although the role you play is a tad different from what you would expect. Hence, the action revolves around the torpedo boat crews, which are small vessels equipped with a handful of torpedoes and a singular, yet vital purpose: to sink as many battleships as possible.

Although their size may not impress at all, it is actually one of their greatest feats, since it allows the crew to easily steer it and reach respectable speeds, thus making the boats very difficult to target down. Naturally, this also makes them extremely vulnerable and weak to any counterattacks, but they managed to do more than enough damage during the second World War, by bringing down a lot of huge ships.

The gameplay mechanics aim to be very realistic, which means that the boat acts quite natural out on the sea and it requires a bit of practice before you are able to properly handle it. However, the greatest challenge appears when you have to engage in confrontations, because each weapon needs to be manually controlled and fired. Despite the apparent inconvenience, this gimmick turns out to do wonders for the atmosphere, since you really feel like you are part of the war.

From a technical standpoint, it is rather obvious that a lot of work went into the simulation engine, in order to make the boats feel and respond accordingly, regardless of the conditions. The graphics engine received a lot of care as well, which is clearly visible when it comes to the modeling of the ships and the water itself.

While PT Boats Knights of the Sea can be a little too lengthy and slow at times, things quickly change once the first enemy ship starts to blip on the radar. Moreover, the variety of situations you are put in and the diversity of the missions is to be considered as well, since the campaign is nicely put together and there are plenty of intense moments to enjoy.
