Although they are deadly most of the time, plane crashes happen very rarely, especially when you consider how many flights are there around the world every day. However, a single crash can mean the death of a few hundred people, or even more if the plane happens to be somewhere above a densely populated area.

One Way Flight is a hidden object adventure game in which you play the role of a plane crash survivor stuck on a deserted island. Thus, your goal is to survive, build a shelter and maybe even explore the island a little bit until the rescue team comes after you. As for the gameplay, the main idea is that you have to scour every area for useful objects and use them to survive on the island.

The story is a bit more complex than just a simple plane crash, because the island you happen to crash on is home to some ancient ruins. These ruins were designed to keep the tectonic plates steady, except that they have run out of energy, which in turn caused a lot of violent earthquakes. Naturally, you find out more about the facility and the civilization that built it by exploring the island.

Besides the hidden object scenes that comprise most of the gameplay, there are a few mini-games you have to tackle along the way. One of them is the crafting component that allows you to assemble different items together in order to obtain something else, such as a shelter. You can even play simple video games on your in-game smartphone, although that gets old surprisingly fast.

The good part is that the game looks impressive, even if the environments are static and mostly hand-drawn. However, this allows for much more detail than it would be feasible with a 3D graphics engine, which means that you can really let yourself drawn into the atmosphere. The soundtrack is pretty engaging as well, at least until it starts to become repetitive.

In the end, One Way Flight does not provide you with too much of a challenge, but at least it’s relaxing and it looks nice. Moreover, the mini-games break the monotony every now and again.
