Ominous Tales: The Forsaken Isle is a hidden object adventure game that challenges you to put your courage to the test and go face-to-face with all sorts of spirits and other ethereal creatures. Not much can be said about the gameplay mechanics, on the other hand, given the fact that most of you should already be familiar with everything if you are a fan of the HOPA genre.

The story is pretty engaging, especially since it features quite a bit of mystery. Hence, it all revolves around a strange island that’s supposedly haunted, or at least that’s what the locals say. Naturally, the main character decides to explore the said island and investigate the rumors, which is when things turn ugly. Ghosts, pirates and all sorts of other unpleasant creatures make an appearance along the way, which is great if you like fantasy stories.

Every scene you have to explore follows the same routine, which means that you first have to search for the useful items, then use them in order to complete various objectives and solve the puzzles that prevent you from moving on to the next scene. Although the concept itself is very repetitive, the content prevents you from getting bored, given the fact that you are always tackling different challenges, more or less.

As far as the graphics are concerned, on the other hand, everything is gorgeously designed to be as immersive as possible, especially the environments and the backgrounds in every scene. The cutscenes are not bad at all either, although the animations are fairly basic and disappointing. Even the music helps with the overall atmosphere, and so do the sound effects that animate the experience.

Even if it doesn’t present you with any original gameplay mechanics, Ominous Tales: The Forsaken Isle is a very polished adventure game, at least if you are part of the casual crowd.
