There are some pretty wild stories out there regarding prophets or wizards that were supposedly able to tell the future and use that ability in order to get ahead in the world. Sometimes they helped the good guys do nice things, but sometimes they just prefer to choose the evil side instead. Naturally, that’s when video games are the most fun.

Nostradamus: The Four Horseman of the Apocalypse is a classic hidden object adventure game that allows you to step into the shoes of the famous prophet and use his unique abilities in order to prevent a world disaster. Nothing is particularly original when it comes to the gameplay mechanics, but there are a few nice ideas in the story department.

Speaking of which, it all starts when Nostradamus receives a letter from a friend, only to discover that his friend’s home has been cursed by a terrible spell. After you manage to solve this mystery, it turns out that there are much more horrible events in the making, such as a potential apocalypse. Hence, you have to deal with the four horsemen and all the trouble they bring.

Most of your time is spent analyzing various scenes for clues and special items, but every now and again there’s a hidden object scene you have to overcome. Although this is obviously a trademark of the genre, the problem in this case is that the scenes are too annoying and repetitive, given the fact that you have to look at the same images while the list of objects changes a couple of times.

Thankfully, the adventure itself is fairly pleasant, at least if you do not mind the predictable story development and the boring characters. The graphics are pretty nice and detailed, especially when it comes to the environments and the background artwork. Not much can be said about the sound department, on the other hand, although that can be ignored a lot easier.

All things considered, Nostradamus: The Four Horseman of the Apocalypse is not the most riveting hidden object game out there, but it’s not horrible either. Hence, if you can get through the boring scenes, the overall experience can be rather pleasant.
