Nevertales: Smoke and Mirrors is a hidden object game that intends to take you on yet another out of this world story in which you, Alice, must save your father from being executed by an evil queen. You have your trusty mechanical owl Gears to help out and plenty of puzzles to solve along the way.

Visually, Nevertales: Smoke and Mirrors doesn’t disappoint. Since nearly all hidden object games are partially visual novels, this one does a good job in making sure you are drawn into the story and atmosphere.

Each chapter you enter presents a unique environment with plenty of details to look at and enjoy. As far as voice acting goes, Nevertales: Smoke and Mirrors is above average, the dialogue is well spoken and that also adds to the quality of the game.

Nevertales: Smoke and Mirrors comes with multiple levels of difficulty for you to choose from. If you’re new to the hidden object genre, you are free to opt for the easiest mode in which you get all the hints and help you need. On the other hand, if you’re looking for the real challenge, the ‘Stare’ option is for you because there is no tutorial, there are no hints and you can’t skip any puzzles.

Gameplay however still follows the same pattern. You have to find various objects that need to be used to form mechanisms, solve puzzles and so on. The puzzles you encounter are diversified and with varying degrees of difficulty, some are rather common for hidden object games while others will be new to you.

On a closing note, Nevertales: Smoke and Mirrors is by all means a good choice for those who like hidden object games. It looks good, the puzzles are well crafted and the story seems to be on the right track.
