Push your car to the limit and tweak its performance in order to gain respect and win money #Need for Speed #Pro Street #Autosculpt technology #Nfs #Pro #Street
The Need for Speed franchise has been around for a very long time now, enough to have been through a multitude of changes along the years. Because it went from arcade to realism and back a few times, it should be no surprise that this latest title takes a weird turn as well, only this time it features a combination of the two instead.
Need for Speed ProStreet is a title that impresses through visual quality, vehicle selection and the overall atmosphere throughout the races, but it tries to satisfy too many people at once. Thus, while you can still modify your car to include various cosmetic gimmicks and a lot of performance upgrades, as the street racing cars generally do, the actual competitions take place only on closed tracks.
This way, the developers thought they would manage to get both crowds on board, since the aforementioned elements are usually mutually exclusive. However, by doing so, many of the gameplay elements do not work as they should, since the game is neither a race track simulator, nor an arcade street racer, which makes the matters very confusing and disorienting.
Despite these downsides, the game still features the usual game modes, including Drift, Speed, Drag and Grip. While the first three are rather self explanatory, the latter involves a variety of challenges and basically every vehicle class, with every racer trying to be faster or knock the other participants out of the track. Naturally, the drag races are not nearly as fun on a closed circuit, especially since there's no traffic to talk about.
Technically, the game outdid itself yet again by offering photo-realistic scenery, especially when it comes to the cars and the tracks. Since every vehicle is modeled after its real counterpart in great detail, you can practically admire and drive the real deal each time you start a race. The soundtrack is completely new as well and it now features a lot more electronic beats, for a change.
In the end, Need For Speed ProStreet may have failed to impress this time around, mainly due to the fact that it tried to juggle too many things at once and dropped everything on the floor in the process. On the other hand, the cars do driver pretty well and you can definitely cleanse your eyes at the sight of the exquisite graphic quality.
