NOT A HERO

Politics has always been a tough niche to get right when it comes to games but things will be different from now on. Roll7 got it right by creating an over-the-top 2 1/4D shooter that’s built with ISO-Slant and pure British humor. NOT A HERO is your Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels meets The Expendables.

For those who seek the pseudo-old-school look that’s fused with new age tech, NOT A HERO is eyecandy. There’s no questioning that it looks great and it plays fantastic. There is a handful of keys to use and the gameplay is as intuitive as Mario only 20X the speed and Goombas have shotguns.

Your employer, a professional assassin who’s after the mayor position, and named BunnyLord, who’s also purple, sets you off on some really intense shootouts. The strat is generally the same, get in, shoot everything, twice if you have to, plant a bomb and stuff like that and get back to the campaign van for an inconspicuous escape.

NOT A HERO is definitely something you want to play if you enjoy a bit of cheeky humor. It has cursing (mild stuff), indecent propositions, terribly good puns and the humor layers keep piling up. It really is a fun packed experience.

The lineup of characters you get to play as is anything but tedious or traditional. Except for Steve, he’s just the ordinary kind of absolute boss. Along with him you get several other pixelated lunatics who use shotguns, swords and even exploding cats to make sure BunnyLord gets what he wants.

NOT A HERO is not the first kind of game to offer this much creativity and personality but it certainly is another title you’ll enjoy playing. It looks great, gameplay flows and everything else is just short of being perfect, which is a lot.
