Mystery Trackers: Winterpoint Tragedy Collector's Edition

Mystery Trackers: Winterpoint Tragedy Collector's Edition puts you in the snowy shoes of a detective who is sent to investigate a distress call from a research station in Alaska. Once you get there, a short series of events make you understand that what happened there is beyond your comprehension.

Right off the bat, Mystery Trackers: Winterpoint Tragedy falls into the generic series of hidden object games. What that means is that while the story is in most part original, the gameplay remains the same throughout the entire thing. It does, however, have the ‘area scan’ feature, which is kind of new and nice.

You go from environment to environment, search for clues, repair devices, unlock doors, and solve puzzles to complete the story. Also, like in a lot of other hidden object games, you have a little helper, in this one he’s a tiny dog, and the story takes you into the Sci-Fi world.

In terms of how the game looks, the blending to some of the elements in each image could have benefitted from a bit more attention to detail. Moreover, the animations are fairly bad. Quality-wise, Mystery Trackers: Winterpoint Tragedy doesn’t rank all that well, but it’s not a bad game either.

The story is captivating, or it should be if you’re a fan of the genre. Some of the puzzles are very good and fortunately, object combinations make sense.
