Mystery Trackers: Memories of Shadowfield is a hidden object adventure game in which you play the role of a detective with amnesia as you try to retrieve your memories and solve a difficult case at the same time. The mechanics are based on puzzles and hidden object sequences, which means that you can jump straight into it if you are a veteran of the genre.

As the name implies, the whole action revolves around the Shadowfield Observatory, where a girl went missing and you must find her. However, things get trickier once you realize that the observatory in question is also haunted by some pretty nasty creatures, including ghosts and various monsters with big teeth. Hence, the adventure is pretty exciting if you enjoy fantasy stories and ludicrous plots.

Every scene you come across features multiple locations and various hot spots that contain useful objects, which must be collected in order to solve puzzles. Some of these objects have multiple pieces you must track down, which is a bit of a chore sometimes, especially since the gimmick is repeated quite a few times over the course of the game. Thankfully, the puzzles come in a variety of shapes and sizes, which helps with the atmosphere.

As far as the graphics are concerned, they are pretty run-of-the-mill for the genre, which means that every background is incredibly detailed, even if there are no animations or 3D environments to explore. The characters are great too, and every cutscene has its own charm, more or less. The soundtrack makes a decent contribution to the overall atmosphere, even if it gets on your nerves after a while.

In the end, Mystery Trackers: Memories of Shadowfield is far from a revolutionary game, but it has all the right ingredients to keep you engaged from start to finish. It also features quite a few interesting plot twists along the way.
